In the summer and fall of 2022, Trail Labs tackled construction in the forest between the Ten Gallon Trailhead and McBride Springs, which is the upper section of Muir’s Ascension.

After completing the trails described in our first update (Bear Springs, Steam Donkey, and MX), Trail Labs turned to the area north and east of the Gateway Trailhead on Everitt Memorial Highway.

This is the first in a series of posts that will update everyone on the progress of creating 46 miles of new trails in the Gateway Trail system.

Expanding Gateway by 46 miles is no small task. It requires a lot of sweat, expertise, collaboration, and significant financial resources.

Construction is underway on a 46-mile addition of scenic pathways through one of the most pristine and secluded parts of California.
